Dr. Alix Masters is an internal medicine physician passionate about providing comprehensive, compassionate primary care at the individual level and advancing health equity and systems-level transformation. As an undergraduate at Vassar College, she double-majored in Women’s Studies and Neuroscience & Behavior, sparking a lifelong commitment to interdisciplinary inquiry. She earned a master’s degree in Bioethics from Columbia University, where her work examined how feminist and disability studies can inform and challenge traditional bioethical frameworks and clinical decision-making. Dr. Masters attended Sidney Kimmel Medical College, where she developed a research interest in evolutionary medicine, exploring how evolutionary trade-offs shape patterns of human disease and reframe how we understand illness. She completed her internal medicine residency at UCLA with a focus on primary care, maintaining a panel of patients within the Los Angeles County safety-net system and leading initiatives to expand reproductive healthcare access and celebrate diversity in medicine. Outside of medicine, Dr. Masters is an accomplished filmmaker and musician who continues to explore the intersections of art, science, and social change through creative work.

Research Interests: Investigating the bio-sociopolitical drivers of health among women, queer, and gender-expansive individuals, and advocating for evidence-based policies that broaden social safety nets to improve access to quality preventive healthcare.
