Mignote Yilma is an Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, where she completed her general surgery residency and advanced research training. She holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Studies in Clinical and Epidemiologic Research (Data and Implementation Science Track) and is a former National Clinician Scholars Program and Health Affairs Health Equity Fellow. Dr. Yilma’s research centers on eliminating structural and socioeconomic barriers to liver and kidney transplantation, integrating multi-center cohort analyses with qualitative methods to redesign the pre-waitlist pathway and improve equitable access to care. She has received national recognition for her work in transplant equity and is committed to a career in academic abdominal solid organ transplantation that combines complex surgical care with systems-level innovation.
