
Beth Griffiths, MD, MPH
Dr. Beth Griffiths is an internal medicine physician who provides primary care to adults and teaches medical students and residents in primary care clinic. She also teaches health policy, advocacy, and community engagement to a variety of learners including medical students, residents, research trainees, and faculty, and she collaborates with researchers to translate their work into policy change. Dr. Griffiths serves as Co-Associate Director of Training and Policy Programs at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies at UCSF, where she runs several policy-focused training programs and trains and links faculty directly with policymakers. In addition, she serves as Co-Director of the UCSF School of Medicine Community Engagement Rotation and Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement for the internal medicine residency Health Equity and Advocacy Pathway.
Dr. Griffiths earned her master's degree in public health at Harvard University's T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She earned her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego, and completed a residency in internal medicine, with a focus on primary care, at UCSF. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Griffiths worked on health and human services legislation in both the California state legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives. She has held leadership roles in the California Medical Association and American Medical Association as well as taken on an active role in various grassroots, community advocacy coalitions.
