Dr. Sameen Ansari is a Family Medicine physician with a deep desire to elevate the voices of underserved communities through equitable and evidence based policy change. As a student at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine she helped establish health literacy training for patients experiencing homelessness and honed her advocacy skills as a member of the Michigan State Medical Society Board of Directors. To learn about the larger context of healthcare barriers she dedicated an extra year to this mission and obtained an MPH in Health Policy at Harvard. There she was directly involved in the policy-making process while serving as a Public Health Fellow for State Senator Jo Comerford. As a family medicine resident at Harbor UCLA she had the privilege of guiding the most vulnerable patients through the maze of county healthcare, and continued to advocate for her peers and patients as the Southern California Regional Vice President of CIR. During her tenure as an NCSP scholar, she aims to bridge the chasm between rigorous research and its utilization to impact evidence based policy change. She is inspired to work alongside a diverse cohort of aspiring health system change agents. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ansari enjoys journaling, spending time with family and friends, and her pet cat.
